17 DAY DIET With CYCLE 1 DAY 1

I got THE 17 DAY DIET book yesterday & read through the first 2 chapters. Dr. Mike Moreno writing is a quick read. He explains how our bodies work in layman's terms so that anyone can easily understand his explanations. Much of what he says I already knew. However, there were a few enlightening AHA ideas that have already changed the way I think about my health. I had hit a plateau for months which in hindsight seems better than the weight I put back on in just a few short months. I was not happy with the scale this morning, but I know that I will reach my weight loss goals with my latest tool. Here's what I learned:

- Losing the weight IS good for my health...Prevention = longevity
- Quick results WILL motivate me to stay on track
- Losing water weight IS important...excess water strains our heart
- Eat foods that favor fat-burning = LEAN PROTEINS
- FISH boosts metabolism. I WILL eat wild salmon 2x/week
- CALCIUM can speed up body burning fat - eat more YOGURT
- All calories are NOT equal; need to optimize digestion/metabolism
- Veggies = THIN. No Veggies = FLABBY (LOL) - eat more VEGGIES!
- Reduce FRUIT to 2 servings a day, focus on BERRIES (NO bananas)
- When we eat DOES matter...no fruit after 2 p.m.
- Women store CARBS as FAT, menopausal period even worse
- I WILL eliminate bread, pasta, rice for 17 days (not easy)
- Good carbs will be added back after 17 days
- Regular STRESS releases extra glucose/insulin = eating cake all day
- Some people absorb more calories that turn into fat (AHA!)
- Imbalance in bacteria in the gut can contribute to weight gain
- PROBIOTICS can balance bacteria to lose weight - eat more YOGURT
- Research other probiotics: KEFIR, MISO TEMPEH
- Need to keep my body guessing by changing it up more often
- Less strenuous fitness ideal for the first 17 days. C25K perfect
- Kidneys can't function properly without enough H20
- When kidneys work below optimal, then liver kicks in
- An overworked liver cannot metabolize stored fat into usable energy
- I WILL drink 8-10 cups of WATER
- GREEN TEA (3/day) increases fat burning, is negative water,.can't sub for H20

I kicked off CYCLE 1, DAY 1 (C1D1) today & already feel better...I must stay upbeat & positive, even with any setbacks. When I reach my weight goal, everything in my life will change for the better. Am I ready for the change? Stay tuned!
